I originally wrote this post in early 2022, just as a nearly two-year-long bear market in stocks began. Interestingly, DCA (dollar-cost averaging) proved its worth once again!

In January 2022, U.S. stocks experienced one of the worst Januarys ever. The following month—when I first published this post—Russia invaded Ukraine, rattling global markets. I remember being in Belize at the time, having a conversation with a friend who lamented day after day about his declining portfolio. After that, we saw inflation surge, interest rate hikes, and markets struggled to recover, not reaching new highs until late 2023.
